BTC – Women Skill Development Centre (WSDC)

The WSCD was established end 2008. It was named after the late Jean Prum, Father of Francois Prum, who is chairman and founder of “Cooperation-Humanitaire-Luxembourg”. He is spearheading the actions of the Luxembourg NGO since the year 1998. In the year 2008 Francois joined hand with “SOS Bahini” and both organizations are to date working as “SISTER-ORGANISATIONS” and this in close cooperation.

This is a “training-center” for the underprivileged women in our community. The majority of them are uneducated young women, single women and otherwise underprivileged women.

The “WSDC” is located in a beautiful bamboo-house and here we are offering a number of skill-trainings, such as handicraft with local available material, tailoring and art-stitching as well a number of workshops that are introducing new technics and methods of handicraft.

All the formations are designed to enable the participants to generate an extra income while staying at home and caring for the children.

With the WSCD we are reaching out to deprived women and we are offering the following programs:

• Tailoring/sewing/stitching
• Handicraft from local available materials
• A variety of  “Handicraft-Workshops”
• Art class

The “Art-Classes” are offered to the girls and young women who are fully living under the umbrella of “SOS Bahini” and this with the objective to enhance their “Creativity” and their sense for beauty.

All our programs are offered for free and the material too is provided by us. In some cases, for the purchase of a sewing machine for example, we may offer a micro-credit to help our beneficiaries to establish their own small business.

More over the beneficiaries from the “WSDC” are invited to participate in the regular “Health-Awareness-Programs” and the “Legal-Awareness-Programs” that are taking place in our “HUB”.

Many have benefitted from the “WSCD” since it was first established in the year 2008 and for many this project is making a big difference in their quality of life.
